A message from the Shaw Heath Neighbourhood Policing Team

On Tuesday, 03rd February 2026, officers from the Shaw Heath Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a plain‑clothes operation in the Grand Exchange area of Stockport. This was in response to a recent increase in shoplifting incidents at Sainsbury’s, Grand Exchange, Stockport.

During the operation, officers witnessed a male stealing alcohol from the store. He was detained, arrested, charged, and subsequently remanded to appear at court the following day.

We want to be absolutely clear: shoplifting will not be tolerated, especially within the Shaw Heath area. Our officers are one step ahead. If you are considering shoplifting, think again. You may not know where we are, but we are there, and offenders will be dealt with by the courts.
